STEM and Beyond

Strengthening the Skills of Students and Journalists

University of Southern California (USC)
Los Angeles

As policy and political leaders sound the alarm on America’s dwindling competitive edge, it’s up to journalists to vet those claims and examine the measures used to gauge whether U.S. students are prepared to thrive in the 21st century economy. Central to the debate over the country’s international standing is the question of whether the U.S. education system is up to par in the STEM fields of science, technology, engineering, and math.

To examine that question and more, EWA will hold an event on Feb. 21-22 in Los Angeles, to explore the drive underway in U.S. schools and colleges to enhance the STEM skills of the nation’s future workforce. Look forward to panels on the latest research on how students learn math and science, what problems educators face when teaching new or controversial topics, innovations in hands-on STEM learning, and more. Attendees will also gain valuable tips on how to report on STEM-related data and research from veteran journalists.

Join us at the University of Southern California for this engaging and timely seminar on some of STEM education’s most pressing issues. Scholarships for lodging, registration and transportation are available. This is a journalist-only event.

Registration for this event is closed.
