Stephaan Harris
Stephaan Harris serves as Assistant Director for Communications for the nonpartisan National Assessment Governing Board, which sets policy for the National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP), also known as The Nation’s Report Card – the gold standard for measuring what U.S. students know and can do in math, reading, writing, science, U.S. history, and civics.
He oversees communications strategies and efforts concerning NAEP and Board policies and actions, including outreach and partnership building with policymakers, journalists, researchers, educators, and others with a stake in K-12 education. Mr. Harris coordinates and manages events, presentations, briefings, webinars, publications, social media, website design, and development of materials, all with the goal to facilitate the use of NAEP data to inform policies and practices that improve education systems and student achievement and progress.
Mr. Harris previously served as a public affairs specialist for the Economic Policy Institute and as a journalist for several publications, including USA Today and the Raleigh News & Observer.
